Ruling on Muslims congratulating one another on the occasion of the Gregorian New Year

Q. Is it permissible for muslims to congratulate each other and give duaa on the new year based on the Gregorian calendar without the intention of celebrating it ?

Praise be to Allah.
It is not permissible for the Muslims to exchange greetings on the occasion of the Gregorian New Year, and it is not permissible for them to celebrate it, because both of these matters involve imitation of the kuffaar, and we have been forbidden to do that.
The Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) said: “Whoever imitates a people is one of them.” Narrated by Abu Dawood, 4031; classed as saheeh by al-Albaani in Saheeh Sunan Abi Dawood
Moreover, offering greetings on this day that comes back each year comes under the heading of celebrating it and taking it as a festival, which is also forbidden.

    SIR,1400 YEARS BACK ALL SUCH HAPPINESS WERE NOT THERE, I DONOT KNOW THE PEOPLE DOES NOT LIKE TO SMILE IN THIS WORLD,BRING ALL FITNA YOU CANNOT DO TAKING AWAY THE HAPPINESS OF PERSONS, BECAUSE THEY HAVE BEEK OUTSTEAD FROM THEIR FAMILIES AND SITTING IN A ROOM WRITTING ALL UNWANTED HADDIS.     I hope Allah forgive me for commenting. I'm not judging or making my own opinion based on the quran and other holy books. I just think that I should reply to friends' new year greetings in order not to hurt their feelings by ignoring the greetings, cause i see that muslim greets each other, and also greets other non muslim people. If i ignore the greetings, i might triggers hatred or made enemies. They would have reasons to hurt me back, and accusing the teachings of islam for the reasons. Now, Allah would not want us to make war, just because we deny new year celebration... Its too child-like. For what i can see that i will greets others happy new year but i will perform sunattan taubat after that to ask Allah for forgiveness. I just try to avoid misunderstanding and worse, war between religions, which can be avoided peacefully. I just want to be safe in this world and also afterdeath. Forgive me if I'm wrong. Allahu Aakbar.
